Dr. Christina Gonzalez, DDS

Dr. Christina Gonzalez, DDS, sleep dentist at Olympia Hills Family Dental

Better sleep usually starts with one question: what is happening in your airway while you rest? For a lot of adults, loud snoring and morning fatigue trace back to soft tissue at the back of the throat that relaxes and narrows the airway overnight. Getting a clear answer opens the door to treatment that fits your life, and it often turns out to be simpler than people expect.

Dr. Christina Gonzalez leads Live Oak Sleep Solutions at Olympia Hills Family Dental, our practice on the northeast side of San Antonio. She treats snoring and sleep breathing disorders with the Solea CO2 Laser and with custom oral appliances, and she is also a Preferred Invisalign Provider. You can meet the rest of our dentists or read more about sleep breathing disorder treatment before you come in.

What Does Dr. Gonzalez Treat?

Sleep is her focus, though she cares for patients across general and cosmetic dentistry as well. Many of her sleep patients arrive after a spouse notices their breathing at night, and others arrive holding a CPAP machine they have not been able to live with. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, people who cannot tolerate CPAP are often referred to a dentist for a custom oral device, which is exactly the care she provides.

Her work covers a focused set of treatments:

Every plan starts with testing instead of assumptions, so you know the reason behind a recommendation before you agree to it.

What Training Does Dr. Gonzalez Have in Sleep Breathing Disorders?

Dr. Christina Gonzalez has undergone extensive training to be able to treat your sleep breathing disorder safely and correctly. Our office has the state-of-the-art Solea CO2 Laser, known for its superior quality of treatment of sleep breathing disorders.

She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she was recognized for achievement in dental anesthesiology and in patient management. She finished a biology degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio before that, graduating Cum Laude, and she joined our team in 2015. She holds membership in the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association.

Does Dr. Gonzalez Speak Spanish?

Yes. Dr. Gonzalez is fluent in English and Spanish, and she speaks with Spanish-speaking patients directly about their symptoms, their test results, and their choices, with no one translating in between.

She grew up in San Antonio, and both of her parents are from Puerto Rico. Families often find that shared background makes the room easier, which counts for a lot when the conversation turns to something as personal as how you sleep and how tired you feel. Outside the office she has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Haven for Hope.

Why Do Patients Choose Dr. Gonzalez?

Comfort is a big part of the answer. Sleep treatment means working at the back of the throat while you are awake, and her recognition in dental anesthesiology and patient management reflects genuine skill at keeping people at ease through that kind of visit. Patients drive in from well outside our area for this care.

“It is so rewarding to have a patient tell me that I have helped them achieve the best sleep of their lives.”

The rest of the answer is straight talk about fit. Laser therapy suits some airways and not others, and she tells you which one you have. When testing points toward severe obstructive sleep apnea, she works alongside sleep physicians rather than treating on her own, and she says so early instead of after you have paid for something.
